Here’s an excerpt of a post I wrote for my agency a few months ago:
You’ve spent hours coding recursive functions, looping through nested arrays, integrating third-party applications, writing APIs, researching database solutions, testing code, meeting requirements, and for some reason the client totally misses the point of the demo! The nerve. Go easy on your clients, though. Remember that they have very little idea about the work developers do, and that’s because your work is very complex and therefore hard to understand. Personally, I glaze over all the time when I hear things like “apache,” “call stack,” or “regex,” and I actually kind of know what these words mean.
